One-Day Intensive

This one-day intensive workshop with Omid Jaffari will teach you the fundamentals of food styling and photography, showing you how those foodie magazines, cookbooks and websites do it. If you have ever wanted to make your food look like the professionals do and record it artistically for your own pleasure (and the envy of your friends), then this workshop will show you how.
Part 1
Photographing Food
In the photographing food section of the workshop, you will learn from the experts how to make the most of whatever quality digital camera you have—from an inexpensive point-and-click camera or cell phone to a professional camera. Enjoy demonstrations of professional photographic tips and tricks and using natural light to show off your beautiful food. You will learn how your food looks to the eye of the camera, including perspective, focus, depth of field and selective focus, lighting, reflections and looking through the lens with a critical eye.
Part 2
Food Styling for Photography
In the food styling section of the Workshop, you will learn from the experts how to show off your beautifully presented and photographed raw culinary creations on your website and in recipe books and brochures! Students will learn basic presentation skills, how to prepare food specifically for the camera, and the ins-and-outs of propping and preparing for a shoot. This course covers the tricks and techniques for media food, building a portfolio, elements of design for photography, and the importance of colors, textures, and negative space.
